Take Me Down To Mexico City

So driving to Mexico City from DC wasn't that big a deal. It was just like driving to Texas, plus another 15 hours or so. We took a new route to Houston this time, and spent time testing out the new wagon's handling in the Blue Ridge Mountains before bombing down the freeway in Mississippi to Louisiana. In the spirit of adventure, we didn't make any reservations for our stops along the way, and it turned out not to matter one bit. We stayed in a La Quinta in Knoxville, a Holiday Inn in Lafayette (great etouffee), with Sergio's folks in Houston, in Austin with Samuel and another night at the La Quinta on the border in Laredo before making our leap into Mexico. One lesson learned for all future road trips: La Quinta welcomes any and all dogs, anytime, anywhere. We love La Quinta!
